The Mount Arlington Fire Department responded to a reported fire on Bensel Dr at the Shore Hills Apartments. Upon arrival they found heavy fire showing from the first floor apartment overlapping the front of the building and exposing the 2nd floor apartment. Quint 26-86, the first due unit, stretched a handline and quickly knocked the exterior fire down. Firefighters then made an agressive interior attack and held the fire to the two units. A third alarm assignment was required due to daytime manpower issues. Mutual aid units from Roxbury, Jefferson, Picatinny Arsenal, Hopatcong, and Netcong responded to the scene. The fire was under control within one hour. All occupants of the building escaped the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
